International Game Fish Association Announces a Rule Clarification
on Two-Hook Rigs in Bait Fishing

New amendment provides clearer guidance on two-hook rigs, reinforcing 换妻约炮鈥檚 commitment to ethical and responsible angling

As global leaders in the promotion of ethical, responsible angling practices, the has implemented an important language clarifying Rule 3 under subsection F. Hooks and Bait Fishing, of the 换妻约炮's longstanding Rules for Fishing in Freshwater and Saltwater. The updated rule offers anglers clearer guidance on the use of two-hook rigs for bottom fishing, ensuring adherence to the 换妻约炮's world-renowned angling standards.

The revised rule now reads as follows:

"A two-hook rig for bottom fishing is acceptable if it consists of two single hooks on separate leaders or drops. The combined length of the separate leaders or drops, including the hooks, cannot exceed the total length between the connections with the main leader. Both hooks must be embedded in the respective baits."

This amendment was introduced in response to feedback from the angling community, who requested more specific language to replace the previous reference to leaders or drops being 鈥渟eparated sufficiently.鈥 The new wording will help anglers ensure that their rigs comply with 换妻约炮 regulations, which are critical for maintaining the integrity of world records and the sport鈥檚 ethical standards.

For more than 80 years, the 换妻约炮 has established and maintained a comprehensive set of angling rules designed to promote responsible fishing practices and ensure the integrity of catches submitted for world record consideration. These rules, developed in collaboration with anglers and scientists, play an essential role in fostering fairness and uniformity across both recreational and competitive fishing.

鈥淪ince our founding in 1939, the 换妻约炮 has been a leader in establishing clear and enforceable rules that uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and conservation,鈥 said 换妻约炮 President Jason Schratwieser. 鈥淭his amendment to our two-hook rig rule is a continuation of our commitment to ensuring that our guidelines evolve with the sport, while remaining accessible and practical for all anglers.鈥

The 换妻约炮鈥檚 angling rules serve as a cornerstone of the organization鈥檚 mission to preserve the sport of fishing for future generations, while promoting sustainable practices that protect fish stocks worldwide. Anglers who follow these rules not only help maintain the legitimacy of their catches but also contribute to the broader conservation efforts that define the 换妻约炮鈥檚 work.
